PREMIUM TYPEFACE: "KNOTCH" (.otf)
KNOTCH
by Jomiro Eming Design Lab, 2025
Knotch is a modular display typeface born from the intersection of geometry and play. Built on a strict grid, its glyphs are carved from perfect circles and quarter-rounds, each one interrupted by a precise notch or dot. These interventions aren’t decorative; they are the logic of the system, the negative space that defines the positive form.
Every character is designed to feel like part of a set, almost as if it could snap into the next. The uppercase letters and numerals share the same visual rhythm, their weight and proportions engineered for impact. There is no kerning trickery here. The architecture of each form is the alignment.
Knotch draws on the language of early digital lettering and modular signage systems, but pushes it into the tactile: A font that feels cut, machined, and built rather than drawn. It is unapologetically bold, making it a natural fit for large-scale editorial, experimental identity systems, and typographic compositions that treat type as image.
